
State Minister for Telecommunication Affairs Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa received today Diyar Al Muharraq Chief Executive Arif Hijris who briefed him about progress in implementing Diyar Al Muharraq project which lies on an area of 12 sqkm with a capacity to accommodate around 100,000 people. Mr. Hijris said the project is fast on the track since its launch in 2006 with the aim to provide diverse facilities, including housing units and commercial outlets, that cater to all social segments and meet the aspirations of investors. Shaikh Fawaz lauded the efforts made to carry out the pioneering project, stressing the importance of such vital enterprises for the national economy. He also commended Diyar Al Muharraq company for following clear strategies to protect public health, the environment, marine life and natural resources. He discussed with Mr. Hijris ways of boosting cooperation between the ministry and Diyar Al Muharraq company to render the project a model to emulate in Bahrain in terms of telecommunication infrastructure. The meeting was attended by Diyar Al Muharraq Deputy Chief Executive Yussef Al Dhawadi.
