
Ministry of Works' Undersecretary engineer Waleed Yusuf Al-Sa'ie received a delegation from major companies from the Republic of Italy and explored with them investment opportunities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry's future infrastructure project. During the meeting, Works Ministry Undersecretary Al-Sa'ie welcomed the visiting Italian business delegation, citing the Kingdom's favourable position with European companies in general and Italian companies in particular and praised the expertise of Italian firms in industry, construction, the environment and agriculture. He also expressed hope that Italian companies come to work as partners in implementing some governmental projects in Bahrain in order to benefit from their rich experience. Ministry Undersecretary for Technical Services, engineer Ahmed Abdul-Aziz Al-Khayatt, made a presentation to the visiting Italian business delegation in which he briefed them on the Ministry of Works domain, responsibilities and duties as an executive arm for implementation of all infrastructure projects in the Kingdom. Also, Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Roads, engineer Huda Abdullah Fakhro, presented an overview of economic development and population growth in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing the significance of integrated modern roads networks and infrastructures projects. She expounded on aspects feasible investment in housing, roads, bridges, causeways and future investment opportunities of the Ministry. Mr. Dino Piacentini, the representative of the Italian companies – which have presence in 49 countries – expressed his admiration of the standard of infrastructures and services in Bahrain. Mr. Piacentini hoped that Italian firms and businessmen will start partnerships with Bahraini authorities in order to come up with mutual agreements that serve the interest of both sides.
