German unemployment was stable in October, as the labour market continues to hold up in face of mixed economic outlook, official data showed on Wednesday. The number of people registered as unemployed in Europe's top economy inched up by just 2,000 in seasonally adjusted terms last month, the Federal Labour Office said in a statement. The unemployment rate -- which measures the proportion of people out of work compared with working population as a whole -- was unchanged at 6.9 percent in seasonally-adjusted terms in October, the Federal Labour Office said. "The labour market is not reacting much to the mixed economic outlook and remains fundamentally sound," the office said. In raw or unadjusted terms, the German jobless total fell by 47,759 people to 2.801 million and the unadjusted jobless rate slipped to 6.5 percent from 6.6 percent, the office calculated.
