
China's renowned Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe will perform here for the first time next month to present its show "My Dream" at Havana's National Theater. Cuba's National Council for the Performing Arts said on Thursday the performance would take place on Feb. 8-9. China's disabled art troupe, which comprises of 110 performers and 37 staff members, was founded in 1987 and has performed in more than 30 countries worldwide. Its repertoire includes about 150 shows, all characterized by artistic elegance and spiritual depth, featuring empowerment, self-realization and independence, as well as respect, care and mutual support for the disabled. The performers of the troupe have received world recognition. The World Association of Persons with Disabilities named them "ambassadors for the disabled," and UNESCO designated them as "Artists for Peace."
