
Egypt's selection of Kuwait as a guest of honor at its annual book fair comes in recognition of its Arab cultural role, a senior official of the Information Ministry said.The 45th Cairo International Book Fair will kick-start in Cairo on Wednesday, with the Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah attending the event. Undersecretary of the Information Ministry Salah Mansour Al-Mubarki said in a press statement Tuesday the Egyptian selection reflected the role of Kuwait in the promotion and dissemination of Gulf, Arab and world culture, and intellectual and scientific production. A number of Kuwaiti cultural and scientific institutions will be partaking in the annual book fair in the Egyptian capital, he said, adding that Kuwait will have two pavilions at the fair; one covers 150 meters and the other will be 1,000 meters. Several Kuwaiti writers, artists, poets, former ministers, a TV team will attend activities to be organized on the sidelines of the fair, he added.The Kuwaiti official hailed Egypt's great role in development in the State of Kuwait and its support for the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.He reiterated his country's backing to the people and government of Egypt during the country's current transitional period.
