International Cooperation Minister Sahr Nasr met with Deputy Director General of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Kenichi Shishido on the sidelines of her participation in the annual meetings of the World Bank in the US capital Washington.
Nasr, who leads the Egyptian delegation to these meetings, hailed the unique Egyptian-Japanese ties, expressing the desire of her country to benefit from the Japanese expertise especially in the educational domain.
This was clearly manifested in the declaration of the Egyptian-Japanese partnership in education during the recent visit of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Tokyo where Japan pledged to develop 100 Egyptian schools.
The minister expressed her keenness on funding the Grand Egyptian Museum which is considered a symbol for the cultural cooperation between the two nations as it contributes to increasing job opportunities for the youth.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe paid keenness on inaugurating the first phase of the museum slated for 2017 on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit.
The twos sides discussed activating the agreements inked between Egypt and Japan during Sisi's recent visit to Tokyo in the fields of electricity as well as new and renewable energy such as the agreement of establishing a station for generating electricity from the solar energy in Hurghada and developing Borj el Arab Airport.
