Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati met on Tuesday with Chairman of the National Water Research Center Mohamed Abdel Motaleb.
They took up ways of using constructed wetlands in facilitating the treatment of agricultural wastewater.
The move is part of efforts exerted by the ministry to fight pollution in all watercourses.
The meeting also probed the outcome of the ministry's experiment at Lake Manzala which aims at upgrading the quality of water at Bahr el Baqar drainage canal before reaching the lake.
The two sides tackled mechanisms for expanding the usage of this low-cost technology to promote the water quality in canals system in general, a technique very suitable for the Egyptian environment.
The meeting was attended by a number of leaders of the ministry and the center.
