
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Wednesday met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, currently visiting Cairo.
The meeting was attended by the chairman of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Egypt’s Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek el Mula.
During the meeting, Ismail welcomed the Azerbaijani minister, stressing Egypt’s keenness on promoting bilateral relations between two countries.
Participation of Azerbaijan in the investment projects in the Suez Canal axis was discussed during the meeting, said cabinet spokesman Hossam Qawish.
Ismail urged the visiting Azerbaijani officials to support Egyptian candidate ambassadress Mushira Khattab to the post of UNESCO Director-General.
Mammadyarov, for his part, expressed thanks for the warm welcome in Cairo, pointing out that Egypt is not only a leader of the Arab nation, but also the Islamic one.
He stressed Azerbaijan’s keenness on promoting bilateral relations with Egypt in all areas.
