A source in the municipal said in a statement that, gunmen broke into the headquarters of the Housing Foundation in Misurata while the council was having a meeting in the presence of Sart mayor, and forced the mayor of “Misurata” Mohammed Shteiwi to resign at gunpoint in front of the crowd.
Other sources said that, the gunmen released Shteiwi after he signed the resignation, which a copy of it was trended on social media. The town council moved its meeting place to the housing foundation after hardcore protesters closed the council headquarter last April, demanding its downfall.
