Three Turkish soldiers were shot dead Monday night by unidentified gunmen in Sanliurfa Province on the borders with Syria.
Anadolu news agency quoted Sanliurfa Province Governor Izzettin Kucuk as saying that the three soldiers were on a night shift duty in border town of Ceylanpinar.
Turkish police rushed to the scene to investigate the incident and hunt the perpetrators, he affirmed.
The Syrian side of the Sanliurfa Province had been a scene of fierce fighting between the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Kurdish militants.
