
Afghan police backed by the army have killed 15 Taliban militants during a series of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Sunday.
"Units of police in conjunction with personnel of army and the national directorate for security have conducted series of cleanup operations in Kandahar, Kunar, Laghman, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Zabul and Paktia provinces over the past 24 hours, which have left 15 Taliban rebels dead," the statement contended.
According to the statement, 16 more militants have been injured and three others were arrested.
Taliban militants fighting the government are yet to make comment.
