An official says at least six villagers were killed when an overcrowded rowboat capsized while crossing a dam's waters in the eastern Indian state of Bihar.
Jamui district magistrate Sashikant Tiwary says authorities are searching for another nine people who were missing after the boat overturned in the water Saturday.
Rescuers retrieved the bodies of six people, including three children, AP reported.
Tiwary said the boat had been transporting 15 villagers to a place about 175 kilometers (110 miles) south of the state capital of Patna. No other information was immediately available.
