A survey of the Census Bureau's geographic database found George Washington has the most places named after him in the United States, officials said. To commemorate Presidents' Day on Monday, which is actually the official observance of Washington's birthday, the Census Bureau complied a list of country's 100 most common names of places, minor civil divisions and counties, the bureau said in a release. Washington has the most places -- 94 with just his name and 127 including places which the name is found within a longer name -- named after him. President Abraham Lincoln came in third with 70 places bearing his name. Although never a president, Benjamin Franklin's last name was the second most common name of a place minor civil divisions and counties, with 89. Mount Vernon, George Washington's home in Virginia, was in 110th place on the list, with 18 places, minor civil divisions and counties nationwide named after it. The entire list is available on the Census Bureau's website, along with the demographic and socio-economic statistics about any of the places with one of these names.
