
At least one police officer was killed and six others wounded on Sunday morning when a suicide bomber targeted the police headquarters in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul, said officials.
Kabul police chief, General Mohammad Zahir Zahir in statement said, "A suicide bomber in military uniform carried out the attack on the third floor of the building, where my office is located." He further said, "Unfortunately as a result of this attack, a police officer who was a director of my office was killed and at least six other police offices were wounded.
The Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi told media that the explosion in a compound occurred in the morning at a time when the area was crowded.
Public health spokesman, Dr. Kanishka Turkistani confirmed that a dead body and seven wounded including a child were shifted to provincial civil hospital and child healthcare center.
The security forces carried a search operation and suspected that the suicide bomber used a military uniform to reach his target.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the responsibility of the attack confirming that a suicide bomber carried it out, media reported.
Meanwhile, another explosion was also heard in the city but no loss of life was reported. Defense Ministry spokesman, Gen. Mohammad Zahair Azimi said that explosion was an attack on an Afghan army vehicle that resulted in no casualties.
