
Tokyo stocks rose Tuesday morning as investor sentiment was brightened by overnight gains on Wall Street.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 119.84 points, or 0.78%, from Monday to 15,416.66, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 8.92 points, or 0.70%, at 1,274.38.
A wide range of stocks attracted buying from the opening bell, after US stocks rose in New York overnight, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting a record intraday high.
