Azhar Imam meets Evangelical Church bishop in Berlin

 Egypt's Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El Tayyeb met here on Friday with Bishop of the Evangelical Church in Berlin Brandenburg Marcus.

During the gathering, El Tayyeb briefed Marcus on the experience of the Egyptian Family House and its role in strengthening the relationship between Al Azhar and the Egyptian Coptic Church.

Also, Al Azhar Imam praised the German bishop's proposal to establish a house in Germany to gather the three monotheistic religions and voiced Al Azhar's readiness to support this notion.

Furthermore, he called for fostering friendly relations between Muslim and Christian scholars in order to be able to spread peace between East and West.

For his part, Marcus thanked El Tayyeb for his visit to Germany, asserting it will help promote inter-religions dialogue and propagate the values of tolerance.
