
President of the Economic and Social Council Munthir Al Shara discussed with his Spanish counterpart the economic, social and environmental impact of the Syrian crisis on Jordan, which is hosting a large number of Syrian refugees.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of a workshop for the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions that was recently held in Madrid.
According to a statement issued by the council on Sunday, the Spanish side stressed the importance of providing support to Jordan to help it shoulder the burden of hosting the Syrian refugees. It added that it will raise this issue at all international forums, especially that the Europeans began to understand the dimensions of the problem following the influx of refugees to Europe.
Al Sharaa also reviewed with his Spanish counterpart, relations between the Jordanian and Spanish councils and agreed with him to implement the agreement signed between them through a working program to exchange of expertise.
